There are many jobs for veterans out there, but you want to transition into a career. A military to civilian transition calls for a purposeful career searching. We won't lie, career searches are work. There's no other way to put it. Especially when you're just getting started, it's going to feel like an uphill climb. It's easy to become discouraged, and there's really no way to know how long the career transition will take or what the final result will be.

Even so, if you remain focused, stay organized and keep at it, the results will follow - and they may turn out to be better than you could have imagined.

How do you turn these building blocks into a successful military transition career search? Use them to gather feedback. Every time you submit an application, discuss a job over the phone, have an in-person interview, or speak with a potential colleague you should be gathering information on how effectively you are presenting yourself.

Everyone is giving you feedback, whether verbal or nonverbal. The better you are able to understand what people are telling you, and the better able you are to organize it to help improve your resume, interview style or cover letter, the more success you will find. This only works when you are persistent about gathering information, however. If you only casually pay attention to the invaluable information you receive you may miss important trends or insights.
